A dedication to comfortable, home-like living space makes up the foundation of Vintage Cooperatives. When founder Jeff Ewing’s grandfather, Carrollton, was paralyzed from the neck down at age 38, he was fated to spend many years of his life in a nursing home. Carrollton’s living space consisted of vinyl tiled floors, institutional lighting and only curtains to separate him from other residents.
As a child, Jeff thought there must be a way for his grandmother, Doris, to live with Carrollton in a home-like setting, instead of returning alone to the family farm after visiting Carrollton. As a result, Jeff has dedicated himself to developing Independent Senior Living communities in Iowa that respect residents and provide them with comfortable, home-like living spaces.
OUR STORY
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Ewing Properties is the developer who sponsors and establishes Vintage Cooperative Communities. Since 2003, founders Jeff and Tina Ewing have been providing a more positive experience for those later in life, looking for both an independent and active lifestyle. In cooperative communities, shareholders get the luxury of home ownership while enjoying a completely maintenance-free, "turn the key and go" community. For those on the plus side of 55, Vintage Cooperatives strives to cultivate a strong spirit of community, maintenance-free living, a secure financial structure, and a community governed by the members.
